My Muse is Being a Slacker

My muse seems to be taking on slacker characteristics.  Then again, maybe it's the programming I'm slamming out in preparation for a trip Out East (a trip, BTW, that I'll be making by train...I've had it up to HERE with tiny seats, security rules that ... well ... let's just say that I'm very happy to be taking the Empire Builder out of here on Wednesday ).  But I digress...

Well, it looks like Palin is achieving Obama-class rock-star status in Colorado Springs.  Why do I get a bad feeling about this?  I guess it's because of the way that a big chunk of the US population looks at the election as if it was some sort of high school popularity contest or an American Idol competition.  "I'm gonna go into Washington and Kick Butt" seems to be the prime message.  Just like the high school jock that ran for class president that you always hated but always seemed to win.  Never mid that you were trying to get a better school environment going...the jock types always seemed to pull in those student votes with a loud voice and not much else.  Palin is that jock.  She talks about doing Big Things in Alaska and how she'll do Big Things in Washington.  I'm just hoping that she's going to get hoisted upon her own petard.

I'm looking forward to talking with folks on the train trip.
